By Krishna Jewel | June 27, 2007
6 Aug Next Hearing On Salman's Appeal Jodhpur: Salman Khan was granted an exemption by a court in Jodhpur from personally appearing and fixed the 6th of August as the date for the next hearing on an appeal filed by him against his conviction in a poaching case.

The district and sessions court was to hear the appeal of Khan yesterday (27 June), however his advocate moved an application, seeking his exemption from personal appearance as the actor was apparently busy on a film shoot.

"Salman is busy in a film shooting and was unable to come before the court today," H M Saraswat, the counsel for Khan, told Judge Kamal Raj Singhvi, who granted him exemption while fixing august 6 as the next date of hearing.

In April last year, a city court convicted Khan for poaching Black buck deer near Ghora farm in Mathania police station area during the shooting of Hindi film Hum Saath Saath Hain and sentenced him to five years in prison with a fine of Rs 25,000.

Khan has filed an appeal before the district and sessions court challenging his conviction.
