Patna: Once again life imitated art when 19-year-old Varun was arrested for auto-lifting. The youth claims to have been inspired by John Abraham's character in Dhoom, released four years ago.

Awestruck by Abraham's performance, the teenager decided to become a top Speed biker and went on an auto-lifting spree.

Much to the devastation of his middle class family, in which he has a brother who is a doctor and another who is an engineer. His father retired from Bharat Coking Coal Ltd.

Unfazed, Varun told his interrogators that doctors and engineers are known only in particular cities or localities. However, his ambition is larger than life: to become a 'don' like Dawood Ibrahim or his aide.

Over the course of the last three months, he and his accomplices lifted six motorcycles from Kankarbagh, Phulwari, Buddha Colony and Kadamkuan areas of the Bihar capital.

However, this week the teenager, sporting Abraham’s hairstyle and imitating his mannerisms, found his luck had come to an end when he was about to grab another motorcycle at gunpoint. A police patrol happened to be passing and the teenager was overpowered.

Varun came to Patna six months ago and started living with his friends at Mandiri, an den of petty criminals.

His accomplice, Mantu, told police that Varun had found an ultimate negative hero in John from Dhoom. "John is so much in his mind that he has not appreciated Hrithik in Dhoom 2."

Smartly dressed in branded clothes and sporting an expensive wristwatch, the teenager was charged under the Arms Act and is likely to spend three to six years behind bars.

However, he says once he comes out of jail, he will leave for Mumbai for an apprenticeship that will, he hopes, turn him into a big underworld 'don' one day.
