Protesting SRK
By Krishna Jewel | March 05, 2007
Protesting SRKMumbai: Mega star Shah Rukh Khan is being subjected to protests outside his home from Samajwadi Party workers.

On Monday afternoon, several party activists gathered outside SRK's bungalow, Mannat, in suburban Bandra, carrying banners and shouting slogans.

It seems a comment made by King Khan is what has the workers all worked up, as a result they are demanding that he apologise for calling Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh a darinda (devil), at the Filmfare Awards function last week.

Reportedly, Amar Singh has forgiven Shah Rukh Khan for the comment after Gauri Khan, the actor's wife, asked him to do so - but the party supporters aren't satisfied.

President, Uttar Bharatiya Sangam, Ramashankar Tiwari says, "Shah Rukh Khan has insulted our leader by calling him a devil. We condemn this abusive language, and we demand an apology."

Samajwadi Party, however, denied it had anything to do with the protest.

"The protests are not (being) organised by Samajwadi Party. They are being organised by some North Indian organisations and some of our workers are pariticipating as members of those organisations. We do not have any hand in this," party MP Abu Azmi informed.

At the awards ceremony, Shah Rukh Khan had also clarified that the comments were meant in "pure jest" and he did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings.
