On New Years Eve, Mallika Sherawat gave a performance at the J W Marriot hotel, Mumbai. First she hit the news for charging an outragious price for the less than hour-long performance. Then rumours of her molesting a fellow dancer made the rounds. Now, she has an obscenity charge against her.

Onlookers all raised an eyebrow when the actress hit the stage in a body-hugging skin suit and a silver bikini to top it. As a result, social activist Vinod Jain has written to the Mumbai police, urging them to take immediate action against Sherawat for wearing suggestive clothes. Having seen Sherawat's performance on certain television channels on New Year's Eve, he found it very offensive to the Indian culture.

He said that the manner in which Mallika was dancing was very distasteful, and it portrays the Indian woman indecently.

Apparently Jain approached the Santa Cruz police station asking them to look into the matter since the hotel lies within its jurisdiction. However, additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari said that there has been no formal complaint filed as yet.

In the next few days, the verdict will be out.

The new year has started the way much of the previous went for Mallika and the actress has already started making headlines.
