Have you ever wanted to enact a scene with one of your favourite Indian stars?
In September you will have that chance as soon some of Indian cinema's hottest stars, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik and Priyanka will be seen in the UK. They will be making an initial appearance at Harrod's in London; from there, they will be seen throughout the rest of the UK.
However, not on a new concert tour or film shoot, but rather immortalised as 12-inch dolls under a licensing deal with a British toy company. Now you
can enact that favourite scene, say between '
Shah Rukh Khan' and 'Kajol', as pictured here. They are two of first four dolls of Indian film stars that will be on sale in UK stores, including Harrods, Toys R Us and Argos, following the sale of their worldwide image rights to Shameen Jivraj, the Kenyan-born Indian creator of the
Bollywood Legends concept.
Mr Jivraj, a former BBC licensing executive for children's brands from Teletubbies and Tweenies children's shows said: "These dolls are going to be bought by kids to play with, teenagers to aspire to and adults as collector items."
The Kajol and Priyanka dolls come in bright, beautiful sarees, their male counterparts, Shah Rukh and Hrithik come with a choice of two outfits.
To begin with, 25,000 brightly costumed dolls, selling for 24.99(GBP)each, will be distributed by SpinMaster Toys UK, but the company hopes reach a target of 100,000 sales. The brand will be distributed to Singapore, India, Indonesia, South Africa and the Middle East.
Two of the stars the dolls are modelled on will appear at the on September 14 official launch at Harrods. Kajol will be accompanied by Roshan, fresh from his most recent hit, Krrish.
