Mumbai: In the coming week, the Special TADA court will pronounce judgment against actor Sanjay Dutt, who is is charged with conspiracy and possession of weapons at his house. Dutt is accused number 117 in the serial bomb blast case which rocked the city in 1993.Dutt was granted bail by the Supreme Court in 1995.
However, before being granted bail, Dutt spent 18 months in custody, most of that period was spent at the Thane prison, separate from the other bomb blast accused.
It is likely Judge Pramod Kode will be the one to pronounce the judgement against Dutt and eight co-accused who are acussed of abetted Dutt and helping to destroy the evidence - one AK-56 rifle and a pistol, which formed the part of the original consignment which were landed by prime conspirator Tiger Memon for the purpose of creating terrorist acts. If found guilty under the TADA act, Dutt is liable to face imprisonment for a minimum of five years up to a life sentence, while if found guilty under conspiracy he faces capital punishment or as the court decides.
