'Sunday' off to a disappointing start with critics
By Raj Giri | January 25, 2008
'Sunday' off to a disappointing start with criticsRohit Shetty's Sunday released today to a below average response from critics. The comedy, starring Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Ayesha Takia, Irrfan Khan and Anjana Sukhani, is currently at a 48% which is 'Below Average'. This is disappointing as Shetty's last film, Golmaal - Fun Unlimited scored a 61% which is 'Good'. On the plus side, it is still getting better reviews than the last major comedy to hit the screens, Welcome (43%), so there is still a good chance that the film can be a money spinner at the box office. Of course, that rating can go up or down as more reviews for the film come in, so make sure to keep checking this space often as more reviews come in. Last week's releases have continued to disappoint. Bombay To Bangkok has fallen even further to a 32% which is 'Very Bad'. This is a huge disappointment from Nagesh Kukunoor, whose last film Iqbal was the fifth best reviewed film of 2005 (for the top reviewed films of 2005, click here). The other release from last week, Tulsi, still remains at a 'Very Bad' 23% with only 3 reviews. Critics and audiences have both stayed away from this film.

Other releases have seen Halla Bol fall to a 50%, which is 'Below Average' and disappointing from a director who has directed films like Khakee, Pukar, Damini and Ghayal. With 36 reviews in for the film, 15 have been positive, 4 average and 17 have been negative. Meanwhile, E. Niwas's latest film, My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, also fell further to a 42% which is 'Below Average'. Of the 23 reviews, 4 have been positive, 7 have been average and the remaining 12 have been negative.

Make sure to keep checking this space often as more reviews for Sunday come in.
