A Rare Quiet Moment With SRK
By Krishna Jewel | October 14, 2008
A Rare Quiet Moment With SRKShah Rukh Khan has come back from Singapore where the ZEE Carnival was held on 11 and 12 October.

Organised by ZEE Network, the carnival was held at the Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore.

During an interview at Changi airport in Singapore Shah Rukh talked about two of his passions - films and books.

Shah Rukh Khan's home library has a collection of more than 5000 books and he has just recently finished reading Gregory David Roberts' Shantaram long before the book hit Indian bookstores. He has recommended it to some of his producer friends.

"I asked them if they would want to make a film based on the book but there was no response. Now Hollywood has taken it," says King Khan.

Khan possesses at least three books he would like to turn into films.

"The other two I have really enjoyed are Mark Haddon's murder mystery, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Yann Martel's fantasy adventure Life of Pi. Right now, my reading priorities are focussed on biopics about people who have led interesting lives."

Conversely, he prefers to remain silent about books written and documentaries made about him, and the never ending awards that keep coming. The reason he chooses to remain silent is because he believes, "none of this would have been possible without help of my co-stars."

He states, "I have been fortunate to have worked with some of the most beautiful and talented women in Indian cinema and at least half of my success goes to their credit. They have contributed to my dance numbers and to my appearance by teaching me how to look good. I am what I am because of what they have helped me to become," says Shah Rukh.

Incidentally, he is once again going to be part of a famously popular jodi when he pairs up with Kajol for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan, scheduled to go on the floors next year.

For now, he has his focus on his current film which is under-production Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, in which he stars opposite 18-year-old model Anushka Sharma.

As with all SRK films, this is surely another highly anticipated film.
