Mumbai, Oct 13 (IANS) The hospital where Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is recuperating from a stomach ailment Monday set at rest the uncertainty over his medical condition, saying he was responding well to treatment."Amitabh Bachchan is responding well to medication and doctors are happy with his progress. We respect the patient's right and confidentiality and hence would not like to discuss this matter further,” Narendra Trivedi, vice president of the Lilavati Hospital, said in a statement.

There were reports earlier Monday that Bachchan's abdominal pain had resurfaced.

The veteran actor was admitted to the hospital on his 66th birthday Saturday after he complained of abdominal pain.
