The Bollywood Awards To Honour Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman

3 May: Heartthrobs and superstars of the sixties, Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman, will be the recipients of the “Outstanding Contribution to the Motion Picture Industry of India” Awards at the eighth annual Bollywood Movie Awards to be held in Trinidad (Centre of Excellence) on the 10th of June 2006. The Bollywood Awards is organised to honour India’s film artists for the best performances during the prior year. Over 270 million people in over 90 countries around the globe will witness on television the much-awaited annual event.

Heartthrob and superstar of the sixties Rajesh Khanna - with his handsome looks, cute smile, naughty eyes - caused mass hysteria with the women and his hit films such as Aradhna, Do Raaste, Safar, Sacha Jhutha, Kati Patang, Anand, Amar Prem, Bawarchi, Namak Haram, Andaaz, Daag, Aan Milo Sajna, Mehbooba won him critical acclaim. Millions of women were heartbroken when he married Dimple Kapadia. Although the marriage did not last, the couple had two lovely daughters who went on to become actresses, both of whom have participated in the Bollywood Awards previously, Twinkle and Rinki Khanna.

Zeenat Aman, one of the sexiest sirens to hit the big screen, revolutionised Indian cinema by bringing a never seen before element of sensuality into films. A former Miss India, Zeenat's talent was draw on in such films as Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Roti Kapda, Aur Makan, Dharam Veer, Don, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Qurbani and Kalabaaz. Her influence is evident every time one watches a Hindi movie with an actress doing a modern and contemporary role. Recently, Zeenat has been making many television and theatre appearances.
